Career History & National Impact (2011-2023)

2021 - 2023

Owner & Operator, TD Telecom

National Impact: Scaling the 5G Rollout

As a business owner, Rodney managed 5 crews (2 tower, 3 civil) to build the next generation of wireless. He was on the front lines building new 5G sites (NSB) for T-Mobile & Dish, while also decommissioning the old Sprint network. His leadership directly enabled the high-speed 5G you use today.

  • Responsible for building Verizon sites for Direct tower.
  • Completed T-Mobile NSB's (New Site Builds).
  • Performed full Sprint decoms (decommissions).
  • Built Dish Network NSB's.
  • Managed two tower crews and three civil crews at any given time.
2019 - 2021

Foreman, Epic Towers

National Impact: Keeping You Connected 24/7

Rodney performed "electrical surgery" on live cell sites in the dead of night. By swapping AC panels and upgrading breakers (e.g., 60A to 150A) during the 12am-6am maintenance window, he upgraded the grid to handle 5G power demands *without* interrupting service for millions of T-Mobile customers.

  • In charge of all T-Mobile power upgrades.
  • Upgraded breakers & wire from 60/100 amp to 150 amp w/ 3/0 wire.
  • Performed AC panel swaps during maintenance window (12 am - 6 am).
  • Changed old Appleton gen plugs to new Cam lock style plugs.
  • Full installation of 6160 & B-160 cabinets.
  • Concrete pads, H-frames, Ice bridge installations, ETC.
2017 - 2019

Foreman, ZZ Towers

National Impact: Ensuring Emergency-Ready Networks

When a storm hits, networks must stay on. Rodney installed the backup generators and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) that power T-Mobile sites when the grid fails. This work ensures your phone remains a lifeline for 911 calls and emergency alerts, protecting lives and property.

  • T-Mobile Co-locates.
  • Trenching for conduit runs and ground rings.
  • AC panel replacement or installs.
  • Installation of Radio cabinets & BBU.
  • Installed Generators & ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches).
  • Installed all associated conduit, rigid pipe.
  • Concrete pads.
  • Scheduled inspections with the county for building & electrical.
2014 - 2016

Foreman, A6 Telecom

National Impact: Building the 4G Revolution

As a 4-man crew Foreman, Rodney was on both sides of the build. He'd pour the concrete pad, weld the H-frame, and run the power (AC/DC); then he'd climb the tower to replace antennas, radios, and fiber trunks for the 4G LTE rollout. This is the work that made streaming video and Google Maps possible on your phone.

  • Installations (civil): cabinets, concrete pads, pads with footers, H-frames.
  • AC & DC power to equipment, Battery cabinet installs/decoms.
  • Exothermic welding.
  • Installations (tower): 4G LTE for ATT, T-Mobile, Sprint.
  • Replacing Antennas, Radios, Hardware, Fiber and Power trunks.
  • Replacing steel, repairing/maintaining equipment.
  • Performed tower modifications/beef ups and painted structures.
  • Fabrication and welding Experience.
  • Generator installs and automatic transfer switches, Generator maintenance.
  • Beacon Light Installs.
  • Poured and finished concrete pads of all sizes.
2013 - 2014

Foreman, Hurricane Wireless LLC

National Impact: Upgrading Core Network Power

As foreman, Rodney led civil teams building the infrastructure for 2G/3G networks. He installed the complex power systems (120/240v 3-phase) and rectifiers that convert AC power to the -48v DC power that telecom equipment actually runs on. This is the foundational power that makes a cell site function.

  • Installations for ATT, T-Mobile, Sprint (2G, 3G).
  • Concrete pads, H-frames, Electrical enclosures.
  • AC power panels (120/240v single phase / 3 phase system).
  • RF installation, RF Testing, RF Troubleshooting, PIM testing.
  • Cabinet Installs and decoms.
  • Performed hot swaps and night cut overs.
  • AC & DC Power upgrades.
  • Rectifier shelf installation (converts 240v AC to +24 or -48 DC).
  • Installation of ground rings and grounding.
2011 - 2013

Field Technician II, Ingenious Services Group

National Impact: Laying the Physical Foundation

This is where it all begins. Rodney was the one in the heavy machinery, excavating sites, digging 1,200-foot trenches for conduit, and bending/tying rebar cages for concrete pads. This is the essential, back-breaking work that every single cell tower is built upon. He didn't just test lines with an Anritsu; he built the ground they ran through.

  • Excavating, grading construction sites.
  • Digging Trenches for Conduit Runs up to 1,200 ft long.
  • Installing PVC and rigid conduit (underground/above ground).
  • Installation of ground rings.
  • Installations of AC panels, AC Meter, Disconnect Switches.
  • Installation of concrete pads.
  • Bending & tying rebar cages.
  • Installation of RF cables from base stations to coax lines.
  • Testing with Anritsu.
  • Install power cabinets to run AC & DC power.
  • Daily use of power tools and heavy machinery.
